Choosing a ‘good fit’ book to read!

IPICK

We are working hard to become independent readers in P3/4 and to do this we need to be able to select the right book for us!

Today we learned about the ‘I PICK’ strategy and tried to think about each of the questions above before we chose a book.

For Reading Homework this week I am asking you to choose a ‘good fit’ book at home using the ‘I PICK’ strategy.

Post on the blog to let me know how you got on!

Books galore!

We are working on expanding our class library so that we have LOADS of choice when we are reading!

If you are throwing out any old children’s books at home then please think of us!

Thank you so much to the people who have donated old books to the school this year. We really appreciate it and it helps us on our journey to becoming magnificent readers!

Our Christmas Fayre is fast approaching…

The countdown has begun… with less than two weeks left until the Christmas Fayre we need everyone to start thinking about how they can get involved! We’re in need of toys, games, DVDs, books, bottles for the Tombola and gifts for the Secret Santa Room. For every item you bring in there are 5 House Points to be earned. If you can bring five different things then your House will earn a massive 50 points! Thank you in advance for supporting this event and we’ll see you all on Saturday 6th December from 12.00-2.00pm.

Star Moments!

star

Thank you for all your effort with your Family boxes! They were wonderful!

This week you have a special home learning task.

You will get home a ‘Star Moments’ sheet to reflect on this term so far and share what you are really proud of. Your family will also get a chance to share what how you have made them proud!

We will then put these in your Learning Record to keep a note of all your special achievements!

The Giving Tree

Today we read ‘The Giving Tree’ by Shel Silverstein. I think that everyone was touched by the message in this story!

I was so impressed by everyone’s understanding and the discussion that we had after reading!

We decided that the most important thing the tree gave to the boy was love.

What do you give to people? It would be great to hear your thoughts on our blog!
