Matisse and the circus!

This week we started our own circus artwork exploring acrobatic movements. The idea for these pictures was inspired by the work of Henri Matisse (see below). Next week we will compare our Art with his and make comparisons. We also looked at a ‘Cirque Du Soleil’ video to get a better idea of the different kinds of movements performed by acrobats…

Here we are working on our cirque du soleil pictures:

Koko the clown!

On Thursday we got some exciting mail! A video from a clown named Koko!

He had heard that we had agreed to hold the circus here at Crown and he wanted to give us our first challenge. Koko asked us to form circus families as the circus needs groups of performers.

P3/4 are going to be the acrobats!

We are excited to learn more about this amazing sport.

Friendship!

This afternoon we read a story called ‘Friendship Rules’. This story is told by a girl who makes a mistake in her friendship. We then thought about what we value in friendships and what we think is important.

Welcome back!

welcome-back-balloon-580-p2

Welcome back to P3/4! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday.

This term Miss Shaw will be teaching P3/4 on a Monday and a Tuesday morning. We will also continue to have P.E with Mr Scott-Woodhouse on a Thursday and for the first few weeks we will have Kodaly Music on Tuesdays.

Homework will continue to be handed out on a Friday and back in the following Wednesday.

Reading books will come home starting next week. Over the term your child will take home a mixture of self selected texts and group texts. The reading record will keep you informed as to what we are working on.

Our Learning Overview (which will be handed out on Friday) will also give you further information about all the exciting learning taking place this term!

Best wishes,

Miss MacBeath

P.S Could everyone please remember to take their indoor shoes back in to school as soon as possible. It is especially important that we have these during the winter months. Many thanks!
